"Fighting for peace is like screwing for
George Carlin ~
Peace has always been something that many people have
difficulties fathoming. Realizing that peace is
quite simply the ability to live in harmony with another being or
object, if a stone bothers you, you will often pick it up and move it, but if
the stone is a boulder - your attempts at trying to move it will fail until you
bring in a wrecking ball, crane or some other means of moving the boulder.
There is however an alternative to having to escalate to such silly methods as
bringing in a crane, you can walk around the boulder.
Apply my rock/boulder metaphor to an argument, in select
cases you can win an argument if it's a minor argument about say, doing the
dishes or where to go. Once the argument turns political, then it's extremely
hard to convince people who have lived all their lives in a box of their
political beliefs to step into your box. Because not everyone has tried to
adopt free communication where emotions don't interfere with opinions, not
everyone will succeed in making a point without offending the other person.
If you are right about something, and the other person is a
fool - you will still be right, it's not necessary to drive yourself up the
wall trying to convince people of your position, stupid and ignorant people are
in abundance, and you will not succeed in convincing everyone that you are
right. Don't make it about you being right, make it about how your opinion
differs, and that's okay.
World peace doesn't start on a Geo-Political scale, it
starts with us. Make peace with the wise and the unwise using this method of
not caring about you being right, rather about you having the right to a
