Amos and the „Phaenomen Humanis“
Amos Plaut´s work is an echo of our „IN“ - HUMANITY.
The observer is directly and instantly confronted with the banality of human behaviour. At first sight this may seem strange and exaggerated – but the tension changes frequently into understanding and a light smile – about ourselves.
Dante Alighieri has already described this phenomenon in „La Divina Comedia“.
Visiting the hell he meets people like you and me, learns about their sins and nevertheless leaves the place in a hopefull mood:
„The Guide and I into that hidden road
Now entered, to return to the bright world,
And without care of having any rest.
We mounted up, he first and I the second,
Till I beheld through a round aperture
Some of the beauteous things that heaven doth bear,
Thence we came forth to rebehold the stars.“
Dante Alighieri: la divina comedia
XXXIV song, 133 – 139
